Debbie’s equestrian career began at a young age, competing in the National Horse
Show at Madison Square Garden at only 10 years old. In 1982, she set the record for
women’s outdoor high jump on Rocky Raccoon, clearing a 7’8” jump in Cincinnati.
Since
that time, Debbie has continued with a successful career in equestrian sport. Some
of her early accomplishments include: winning the 100,000 AGA Championship US in
1988; winning AGA Championship USA in 1989; winning the Zurich, Switzerland Grand
Prix in 1989.
With more experience, Debbie’s list of accomplishments grew longer.
In the nineties, her winning streak continued with the following: being named the
L’annee Hippique #2 ranked world show jumping female in 1991; winning team Bronze
in the Pan American Games in Havana, Cuba in 1991; part of the Winning Nations Trophy
Final in Belgium in 1991; winning the 100,000 USET Selection Trial in New Jersey
in 1992; receiving 2 team Golds in the 1992 Nation’s Cup competitions; winning the
Budweiser American Invitational in 1993; being a member of the Winning Nation’s Cup
team in New York in 1993; winning the 1994 American Gold Cup; winning team Bronze
in the 1995 Pan American Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina; placing 5th in the 100,000
AGA Championship in 1996.
Debbie’s career took off again in 2002 when she placed 2nd
at the 150,000 Hampton Classic and placed 1st at Canada One, Spruce Meadows. Another
winning streak followed including: winning the 25,000 Grand Prix National Horse Show
in 2003; 2004 again to the top of the class at Spruce Meadows, Canada; winning the
25,000 Kentucky Summer Grand Prix in 2005; placing 3rd at the Kentucky Spring Grand
Prix in 2006; winning two 25,000 Hagyard Grand Prixs in 2007; placing 2nd at the
Kentucky Summer Grand Prix in 2007; placing 2nd and 6th at the 2008 North Coast Jumper
Classic 50,000 Grand Prix; placing 2nd at the 2008 Cleveland 25,000 Welcome Stake;
placing 1st and 9th at the 2008 Kentucky Summer 40,000 Grand Prix; placing 1st, 2nd
and 3rd at the Kentucky Summer 25,000 Hagyard Classic in 2008; placing 3rd and 10th
in the 2008 Chagrin Valley 50,000 Grand Prix; winning the 2008 Chagrin Valley 10,000
Welcome Stake; placing 4th, 8th and 10th at the 2008 Atlanta Summer 25,000 Grand
Prix; placing 2nd and 9th at the 2008 Atlanta Summer Lucky Sevens Welcome; placing
6th in the 100,000 Budweiser Upperville Jumper Classic in 2008; placing 4th and 11th
in the 25,000 Upperville Welcome Stake in 2008; placing 8th in the 2009 WEF Braman
Motorcars Challenge 30,000; placing 6th in the 2009 WEF Braman Motorcars 50,000 Grand
Prix; placing 3rd at the 2009 WEF Gambler’s Choice 25,000; placing 11th in the 2009
WEF Challenge Cup 30,000; placing 10th at the 2009 WEF Braman Motorcars Challenge
30,000.
Originally from Illinois, Debbie currently lives in Tampa, Fla. She operates
Centennial Farm where she develops talent in young horses and riders for the sport
that she has loved and influenced for nearly half a century.
